Alt Musica

Short Blurb

Alt Musica is a visionary chamber jazz ensemble.

Combining a trio of orchestral woodwinds with a rhythm section, Alt Musica blends the texture of classical chamber music with the performance approach of a jazztet.

This playful fusion of classical and jazz elements is found both in David Elaine Alt’s compositions, as well as the inspired improvisations on typically classical instruments English Horn, Flute, Bass Clarinet and arco Bass. Each instrumentalist brings her unique voice and style to the ensemble.

Alt Musica is an innovative voicing of the sublime in jazz chamber music.

Visionary Chamber Jazz

An innovative voicing of the sublime

Alt Musica is a visionary chamber jazz ensemble. Combining a trio of orchestral woodwinds with a rhythm section, Alt Musica blends the texture of classical chamber music with the performance approach of a jazztet.

This playful fusion of classical and jazz elements is found in David Elaine Alt’s compositions, but also by inspired improvisations on typically classical instruments English Horn, Flute, Bass Clarinet and arco Bass.

Each instrumentalist brings her unique voice and style to the ensemble, inspired by an approach that exploits the timbral characteristics of our colorful instruments.

We collaborate with guest percussionists, montunists, and featured soloists to flavor the band in different directions.

Alt Musica is an innovative voicing of the sublime in jazz chamber music.

Alt Musica is a project of Flaming Hakama by Elaine.
